Portrait of Jason McWhirter

Seventeen years running field inventory, billing, and compliance out of databases I built myself — for oilfield service operations where a lost sack or a wrong line on an invoice was real money. I do the same work now as data analysis: records cleaned, reconciled to the penny, and shown in dashboards a person can judge at a glance.

This is the front room. The work is below; the rest of the house is in the menu — Bio, Contact Info, Links, Pics, Music, and a Junk Drawer.

Software — built and published

FleetSheet

A one-desk equipment tracker with compliance checks and invoicing / accounts receivable, built with Python and MySQL for the small rental shop — every unit in the yard, every expiration date, every open invoice, on one screen. Free, published, and in its second year of releases. Track your equipment to the bank.

Tiger Bullets Program, 2009–2013 — Field Inventory & Billing

A lost-circulation-material program run in the field, reconstructed from the original tickets and invoices. A documented sample, verified ticket by ticket: 55,155 sacks delivered · 1,378,875 lbs · $1,705,902 invoiced · 227 wells · 251 of 251 tickets signed.

Job-Cost Ledger — Documented Sample

Job-cost paperwork from oilfield service work, rebuilt as a working ledger and an interactive dashboard: 5,116 line items · $1,433,884 across 92 projects · Oct 2011 – Dec 2014. Steel, Electrical, and Consumables account for 67% of all documented spend, and 99.78% of the lines carry a full paper trail — purchase order, vendor invoice, and delivery ticket.

Case study — documented sample

Asset Register

527 assets tracked across five operating sites, with certifications and due dates — written up with the job-cost ledger as short case studies: problem, build, impact.

Music — Lafayette High School Symphonic Band

The Band

Before the oilfield, there was the trumpet section. Three discs of the Lafayette High School Symphonic Band, including the band's December 1988 performance at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago — the full program, streamed.
